The GreenHome Institutes - "Passive Solar Design and Online Tools for Window Shading Design, Analysis and LEED" – Free CEU Web

start time: Feb 28, 2018 12:00:00 PM EST

end time: Feb 28, 2018 1:15:00 PM EST

About this Event

The instructor will demonstrate the use of web-based tools to design and analyze horizontal overhangs and other window shading systems for residential and commercial buildings, and general shading and heat gain-related strategies will be discussed.

This course may be useful for architects, interior designers, engineers, green builders, and DIY homeowners. We will also go over the LEED for Homes Passive Solar Credit and Passive Solar in Remrate.

Lessons Learned

(1) Know the importance of correctly addressing window locating and shading needs and how it fits in with LEED BD+C V4 Building Orientation for Passive Solar

(2) Understand the seasonal and daily performance of horizontal window overhangs and how it helps with LEED BD+C V4 Building Orientation for Passive Solar

(3) Articulate how to use design tools to determine instantaneous window shading from horizontal overhangs and if you can get credit in LEED BD+C V4 Building Orientation for Passive Solar

(4) Understand how to use design tools to determine annual window shading from horizontal overhangs
